Townhall plans and Save Our Skyline

The plans to re-develop the LBHF town hall and adjoining area has generated controversy and Save Our Skyline has been formed. Its website is Save Our Skyline . The issues extend past the height of the new buildings, and relate to the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of new homes and commercial buildings. We have been asked, most strongly, to support the Save Our Skyline campaign by other Hammersmith resident associations. We should like to know where the BGA membership stands on two points related to this. Firstly whether we should respond as an Association (rather than engaging as individuals) and secondly, if there is a demand for a BGA response, where we collectively stand on this proposed Town Hall redevelopment. If you do have a point of view about this please email your comments and recommendations, however short or long, to Gilia Slocock Gilia Slocock by December 20th.

Planning & Development

Michael Burrowes is an architect and is our member for planning. He has lived and worked in Brook Green for nearly twenty years. He reviews major planning applications and liaises with the planners on behalf of the BGA. He makes representations where it is felt necessary. Michael attends and speaks at inquiries where appropriate and has made comments on the Local Development plan.

The BGA don’t usually get involved in residential application or appeals, unless there is something which we feel is out of order and/or to the detriment of the community.

Recent involvement

Recent planning applications in which Michael has represented the BGA include the Apart Hotel on the Hammersmith Road, the Jacques Preverts school in Brook Green and the Hammersmith Palais application and Inquiry.
